About The Position

The Materials Planner plays a critical role in enabling reliable production execution for the Columbia line through disciplined procurement, inventory management, and material planning. This position ensures material availability is aligned with production requirements while balancing inventory optimization, supplier performance, and continuity of supply. The role partners closely with Operations, Production, Procurement, and Suppliers to support schedule adherence, mitigate supply risks, and continuously improve inventory health and planning effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in materials planning, procurement, or inventory management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP, including purchase order management and inventory transactions.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to influence suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute procurement activities with a high degree of accuracy, ensuring purchase orders, pricing, quantities, and delivery dates are correctly maintained in SAP.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for suppliers, driving clear communication, responsiveness, and follow-through on delivery commitments.
  • Proactively expedite materials and resolve supplier or delivery issues to minimize production disruptions.
  • Maintain accurate inventory transactions within SAP, including receipts, adjustments, and stock movements.
  • Perform cycle counts and lead variance investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Provide day-to-day material support to Operations and Production teams, communicating constraints, shortages, and risks impacting execution.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support continuous improvement initiatives related to material flow, execution accuracy, and overall operational performance.
  • Support inventory optimization initiatives by analyzing and adjusting planning parameters such as minimum order quantities, lead times, and safety stock.
  • Contribute to the reduction of excess and obsolete inventory by identifying at-risk materials and recommending corrective actions.
  • Support improvements in inventory turns through disciplined planning, execution, and follow-up.
  • Monitor material supply risks and partner with Sourcing and Operations to develop mitigation strategies.
  • Balance inventory investment with service level requirements to ensure continuity of supply while supporting working capital improvement goals.
  • Maintain accurate material plans aligned to the Columbia line production schedule.
  • Ensure timely updates to material requirements in response to schedule or mix changes.
  • Partner with Production Planning to confirm material readiness to support execution.
  • Proactively identify material-related risks to the production schedule and escalate issues early with recommended mitigation actions.
  • Support stable production flow by aligning material availability with build priorities and schedule adherence targets.
