About The Position

Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc, a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional and talented Materials Planner II-III based at our Berea, KY manufacturing facility. What you will do: Plan, release, and manage material schedules to align with production needs and support on‑time builds. Track supplier performance by monitoring delivery dates, acknowledgements, shortages, and quality issues; take proactive action to prevent delays. Review inventory levels daily, adjusting for demand changes, lead times, safety stock, and early shipments to control excess and prevent stockouts. Analyze data related to materials, suppliers, and inventory to identify risks, trends, and opportunities to improve cost, delivery, and material flow. Communicate material status, shortage risks, and recovery plans with production, purchasing, logistics, engineering, and other internal teams. Support material readiness for engineering changes, new product introductions, and process updates to ensure seamless transitions with no production disruptions. Participate in supply‑chain improvement projects, including Kanban, vendor‑managed inventory (VMI), consignment, and other inventory‑optimization efforts. Level III Additions: Manage materials planning across multiple plants, regions, or product families with a larger and more complex scope. Serve as the primary escalation point for significant supplier issues and high‑impact material constraints. Lead broader supply‑chain improvement initiatives that align with regional or business‑unit goals. Who you are: Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to juggle competing priorities. Clear and confident communication, especially when coordinating across multiple teams. Data‑driven decision‑making, using facts and trends to guide actions. A continuous‑improvement mindset, always looking for better ways to streamline the flow of materials. Calmness under pressure, especially during shortages, supplier delays, or urgent production demands. What you will need: Level II Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience in a materials, supply‑chain, or manufacturing environment High school diploma and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. Level III Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience in materials planning, supply chain, or a related manufacturing discipline. Skills, Experience & Abilities Proficiency using MRP/ERP systems (e.g., AS400, PRMS, SAP, or similar). Solid understanding of material scheduling, demand planning, and inventory control. Ability to work confidently with spreadsheets, data analysis tools, and standard office software. Experience collaborating with suppliers and cross‑functional teams to resolve material or delivery issues. Level III Additions: Advanced experience with MRP/ERP systems and strong Excel proficiency for data analysis and reporting. Working knowledge of lean material‑flow practices, including Kanban, consignment, and demand‑flow environments. Strong product and component knowledge developed through hands‑on experience within manufacturing. Familiarity with supplier qualification or certification processes.
