About The Position

The Materials Management Technician at Baylor Scott and White Surgicare Garland is responsible for overseeing the materials management process, which includes the evaluation, procurement, storage, and distribution of medical and surgical supplies. This role supports the daily operations of the facility by managing inventory control, ordering supplies, and coordinating with vendors for maintenance and repair of equipment. The technician plays a crucial role in ensuring that the surgical center operates efficiently and effectively, contributing to the overall success of the healthcare services provided.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; college graduate preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in materials management or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and department supply items.
  • Ability to read, write, type, and perform calculations effectively.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prepare reports and keep accurate records.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to maintain effective communication with vendors and healthcare team members.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, procure, store, and distribute all medical and surgical supplies and equipment.
  • Perform daily operations to support medical and surgical inventory control.
  • Order all medical/surgical supplies and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Receive and stock supplies in assigned areas.
  • Act as the contact with vendors to obtain information and price quotes.
  • Coordinate support services for maintenance and repair of equipment.
