Role Summary The Materials Management Specialist is responsible for analyzing, planning and scheduling of all WIP, Sub-Components, and Finished Goods to ensure appropriate inventory levels to satisfy demand for both quality and quantity within a Medical Device manufacturing organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment in a similar position such as planning or materials management, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • 3–4 years of planning/scheduling experience, preferably in medical device manufacturing.
  • Experience with Sage X3 or equivalent MRP/ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Proven history utilizing MRP/ERP systems 
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, problem solving and negotiation skills, required.
  • Ability to read, interpret and understand detail technical documents; such as prints and product specifications.
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Effective, written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse workforce, (ethnicity, language and education levels) and with employees in all levels of responsibility.
  • Dedication to producing quality work and completing tasks within specified time frames.
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to multitask including a strong results orientation.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Utilize MRP/ERP/production systems to coordinate and support all planning/scheduling activities to include; planning, scheduling, creating and entering/closing work orders, release, monitor and maintain work orders in line with production schedules, review reports for target inventory, safety stock, sequence of operations, and lead times to ensure adequate inventory is available to meet customer demand, production builds and minimize inventory carrying costs.
  • Pull and stage material for production/shipping
  • Responsible for the availability of all WIP, Sub-Components, and Finished Goods required for production and ensure that stock levels are maintained to enable on time deliveries.
  • Work closely with the Production, Customer Service, Chemistry, Cyclotrons, Materials Management, and Sub-Contract Manufacturers to determine the appropriate stock levels for Sub-Components and Finished Goods to minimize lead times and improve cash flow.
  • Assist with managing and maintaining Bills of Material, Item Master profiles, Kit Builds, ROP etc.
  • Establish and maintain accurate perpetual inventory counts.
  • Manage exceptions to standard material flow to include rejections, rework, unplanned operations, unplanned requirements, etc
  • Work with Production team to resolve issues regarding manufacturing efficiencies
  • Complete status reports for production progress, work in process, and finished goods inventory and to capture build rates, scrap rates, etc
  • Develop/implement process improvements to streamline the functions of the position
  • Provide support for special projects within the department by completing special assignments, performing data analysis, and providing historical and future material movements utilizing the MRP/ERP/ production systems.
