About The Position

Performs work under direct supervision. Perform manual and clerical duties related to the handling, allocation and transfer of materials, equipment, kits, supplies and shortages that are required and conducive to maintaining an efficient material flow through and Leatherman facility. Maintains inventory accuracy within MRP system (MS Dynamics 365) and other information systems. Maintain continual flexibility to reprioritize work based on the needs of manufacturing. Operates a variety of materials handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand truck etc.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Materials handling or warehouse experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking English and basic math.
  • Requires a forklift and riding pallet jack licenses required (training and certification provided).
  • Basic clerical skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office software skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, & Internet Explorer) and MRP inventory module experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, speak, and write English at a level to effectively utilize and interpret MSDS’s, work instructions, and technical manuals required.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions.
  • Ability to lift/move heavy objects. Physical stamina required.
  • Forklift and riding pallet jack licenses required (training and certification provided).
  • As business requires flex workdays or works hours 24/7 to meet business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Physically transfer materials to and from storage, receiving, warranty, maintenance, machining, and assembly workstations. Continually lift materials of up to 50lbs.
  • Weighs all subcontracting parts coming in and going out to vendors.
  • Perform transactions in MRP and other systems to maintain accurate and timely inventory data according to work instructions and/or training.
  • Locate materials and partnering with Material Handler III to expedite part shortages within the plant that may be required for completion of assemblies or to feed constraint work centers to maximize capacity utilization.
  • Ensure inventory data in MRP is consistent with physical inventory quantities and locations by part number. Accurately maintain inventory data in real time within MRP according to work instructions and/or training. Support problem solving when discrepancies are identified.
  • Verify that traveler/router data and signatures by process step accurately reflect actual part number, latest revision, level of processing and quantity on hand. Ensure Work orders are present and match the parts in each tote/bin.
  • Utilize small hand tools and operate materials handling equipment including forklifts, skids, pallet handlers, hand trucks, and other similar equipment.
  • Follows all company procedures and regulatory requirements for the handling, storage, labeling, and disposal of hazardous waste materials.
  • Understands and complies with applicable federal, state (Oregon DEQ), and local regulations concerning hazardous materials and waste.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation and labeling on all hazardous materials and containers.
  • Uses personal protective equipment (PPE) as required when handling hazardous substances.
  • Reports spills, unsafe conditions, or incidents involving hazardous waste to the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team immediately.
  • Participates in hazardous waste and safety training provided by the company.
  • Act as a back-up for certain Materials Handler II functions as skills develop through on-the-job training and as business needs dictate.
  • May train temporary associates in entry level materials handling tasks.
