About The Position

We are looking for an independent, self-starter, university student with Materials Engineering Lab experience to support the needs of a Materials Engineering team in Marshalltown, IA. This role will focus on lab work set in an R&D environment.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Polymers Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Junior or Senior standing preferred; Sophomores who have completed the Materials Characterization course may be considered.
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and good interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of introductory materials engineering coursework preferred.
  • Junior or Senior standing.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently and efficiently to complete assigned work.
  • Conduct lab evaluations including liquid penetrant testing, welding monitoring, tensile and compression testing, hardness/micro-hardness evaluation, corrosion testing, metallography, sectioning, coating thickness evaluation, and compositional analysis.
  • Document laboratory results and accurately convey results to requestors, describing test procedures and/or failure analysis mechanisms.
  • Revise company standards.
  • Support Engineering Change Management work processes.
  • Update web pages.
