Materials and Production Planning Manager

About The Position

If you are a Materials & Production Planning Manager professional looking for an opportunity to grow your career, this role provides the chance to lead materials planning, production scheduling, supplier coordination, and inventory management within our Elyria, OH facility. You will guide a team, strengthen planning processes, and partner across functions to support high levels of service, accurate planning parameters, and reliable on‑time delivery to our Distribution Centers. In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be: Lead a team responsible for materials purchasing, production scheduling, shipping and receiving, and cycle counting, promoting collaboration, effective communication, and group problem‑solving to meet key performance goals. Establish a consistent daily, weekly, and monthly operating rhythm that ensures Planning and Operations teams remain aligned on materials planning deliverables. Identify and maintain KPIs at the individual, team, and operations levels to define success, highlight materials or inventory risks, and drive accountability. Strengthen supplier coordination to ensure on‑time delivery of purchased raw materials and components and maintain proper safety stock levels; collaborate with Sourcing to resolve supplier delivery or quality issues. Partner with Operations to optimize production schedules, improve schedule adherence, and support proper safety stock levels for in-house manufactured items. Oversee PFEP (plan for every part) requirements by maintaining accurate ERP parameters including safety stock, reorder quantities, and lead times. Support inventory accuracy through timely and accurate transactions, direct oversight of cycle counting, and root‑cause and corrective‑action efforts for recurring discrepancies. Train, mentor, and support Planning team members in materials planning and system best practices. Manage annual physical inventory events and reconciliation activities. Monitor overall inventory levels and dollars through PFEP management and regular review of items with excess or insufficient inventory; implement corrective actions for chronic issues. Ensure ERP and related systems maintain accurate data, including routing and BOM updates, ECN processing, and proper disposal of obsolete inventory. Participate in monthly S&OP and MOR processes, providing updates related to shortages, inventory issues, and required corrective actions. Perform other responsibilities as assigned. For This Role, You Will Need: Bachelor’s degree in business management, operations management, engineering, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in supply chain, inventory, or demand planning. 2+ years of managerial or leadership experience. Strong leadership skills and the ability to guide and develop teams. Strong analytical and computer skills, with proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Strong working knowledge of ERP and other planning systems. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritize effectively. Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart: Experience with JDE ERP or comparable systems. Familiarity with PFEP methodologies. Requirements
