As a Materials and Processes Engineer, Sr. you will support a broad range of projects. You will be working side by side with designers, suppliers, quality, as well as test and manufacturing engineers. You will use your education and experience to develop and evaluate new and innovative technologies. In this role you will: Participate in Materials and Processes Engineering technical assignments related to hardware manufacturing and testing. Assignments will include technical evaluation and support of manufacturing issues/concerns Support trade studies, configuration management, change control, and management of obsolescence of COTS and customer hardware Have a hand in the development of the program Materials and Processes (M&P) management plan, the selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of M&P Prepare technical and progress reports on assigned tasks, prepare specifications, evaluate suppliers and analyze test reports Coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement This position requires a security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration. The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility located in Huntsville, AL. Requirements

  • Experience in Materials Engineering, demonstrated through professional work history or relevant academic background
  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings and/or specifications or reports, and providing guidance to engineers or stakeholders.
  • Experience with either metals, composites, polymers, adhesive bonding, thin films, and/or coatings for corrosion control
  • Willingness/ability to obtain/maintain a Secret security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Materials and Processes for product development, improvement, design, application and production
  • Experience establishing and implementing technical requirements (specifications, program plans/requirements, etc.)
  • Knowledge of laboratory material test/evaluation methods (mechanical, optical, surface chemistry, etc.)
  • Knowledge of environmental and operational requirements for materials in space or missile applications
  • Work experience independently resolving issues related to manufacturing, development, and failure analysis
  • Active or Current Secret clearance
