About The Position

The Materials Analyst is responsible for managing and optimizing the end-to-end flow of materials, with a primary focus on purchasing and supplier execution. This role ensures that demand signals are translated into timely, accurate supply actions while balancing service, inventory, and cost. Operating at the intersection of demand planning, production, and sourcing, the Materials Analyst plays a critical role in maintaining continuity of supply, proactively identifying risks, and driving data-informed decisions to support a dynamic and growing business environment.

Requirements

  • A relevant bachelor’s degree in such fields as operations management, logistics, materials management, mathematics, or supply chain and 2+ years of progressively responsible related experience.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical and business information and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to work in a Windows environment.
  • Possess advanced skills in Microsoft Excel—Pivot Tables and formula calculations, PowerPoint and Word.

Nice To Haves

  • A valid driver’s license if located within the United States.
  • CPIM certification from APICS preferred.
  • SAP experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Translate demand signals (forecast, sales orders, production requirements) into actionable supply plans
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to balance service, working capital, and risk
  • Identify and resolve material constraints, including shortages, excess, and misalignment
  • Leverage leading indicators (forecast changes, supplier performance, open order trends) to anticipate supply risks
  • Ensure alignment between sales orders, production orders, and material availability
  • Effectively communicate planning strategies with cross functional partners.
  • Analyze and maintain MRP rules and parameters through SAP to have the right product at the right location at the right time.
  • Manage slow moving, excess and obsolete materials. This includes limiting the purchasing of it as well as disposition of existing excess and obsolete materials.
  • Incorporate any product phase out plans and/or new product introductions within the materials planning parameters to minimize excess and obsolete materials.
  • Manage service performance by ensuring on-time delivery to customer request dates, reducing past due orders, and maintaining material availability to support production schedules.
  • Monitor and improve supplier execution by managing on-time delivery, lead time adherence, and overall open order health, while proactively addressing risks and expediting where necessary.
  • Drive effective inventory management by balancing inventory turns, days of supply, and reducing excess and obsolete stock while aligning inventory levels to demand variability and growth.
  • Continuously identify and address root causes of supply chain inefficiencies, leveraging data and tools to enhance visibility, strengthen planning processes, and shift the organization from reactive to proactive supply management.
