About The Position

Cayuse Federal Services (CFS) provides innovative and flexible solutions to federal government clients, emphasizing cost-effective excellence. Core service areas for CFS include Environmental Services Investigation and Remediation, Munitions Response/Unexploded Ordnance (UXO), Operations Support Services Bases, Ranges, Airfields, and Logistics/Warehouse Management. Cayuse Holdings is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Hazardous Waste Materials Subject Matter Expert (SME. This role will involve providing subject matter expertise in the management, removal, and disposal of hazardous materials, including forensic lab waste and alcohol waste. The SME will be responsible for developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and devising effective execution plans to ensure compliance with federal regulations and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in hazardous waste management, with a focus on federal agency projects or forensic laboratory environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of hazardous waste regulations, including EPA, RCRA, OSHA, and DOT standards.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing SOPs for hazardous waste removal and disposal.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage complex hazardous waste operations from planning to execution.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with government personnel and stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications such as Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with forensic lab operations and alcohol waste management is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Hazardous Waste Management: Provide expertise in handling, storing, transporting, and disposing of various types of hazardous waste materials, including forensic lab waste and alcohol byproducts.
  • SOP Development: Develop comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that align with federal, state, and local regulations, ensuring safe and efficient hazardous waste management practices.
  • Execution Planning: Create detailed execution plans for the removal and disposal of hazardous materials, including timelines, resources, and methods to minimize risks and maximize efficiency.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all hazardous waste management activities comply with applicable laws, including EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and mitigate risks associated with hazardous waste removal and disposal.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with personnel and other stakeholders to understand their specific needs and challenges related to hazardous waste management.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and guidance to staff on hazardous waste handling procedures to promote safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Technical Expertise: Serve as the primary technical expert on hazardous waste materials, offering solutions and recommendations tailored to the unique requirements of the forensic labs and other facilities.
