About The Position

Reader Precision Solutions is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Materials Transport Driver whose primary responsibility is driving and transporting raw material and components between our facility and outside process vendors. This role reports directly to the Purchasing Manager and plays a critical part in maintaining efficient material flow and on-time delivery. When not assigned to daily vendor runs, this individual will support the Materials, Shipping, and Purchasing departments with operational needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License & clean driving record required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate (FedMed card) is required.
  • Strong safety awareness and commitment to compliance with transportation regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage routes, schedules, and documentation.
  • High attention to detail and care in handling materials and components.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strong communication with internal teams and vendors.
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and daily schedules.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation, communication, and internal systems.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, sitting, standing, and walking throughout the shift.
  • Occasional climbing of rolling stairs, crouching, stooping, squatting, and twisting.
  • Lifting requirements: up to 100 lbs. (infrequently), up to 50 lbs. (occasionally), 25 lbs. or less (frequently).
  • Vision corrected to 20/20 for close distance, with adequate peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • Ability to work in office, production, shipping, and outdoor environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous route driving, courier, or delivery experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environment is a plus.
  • Familiarity with material handling, shipping, or receiving processes preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate company-owned non-CDL DOT flatbed truck and/or 18-foot company van in a safe, professional, and compliant manner.
  • Complete daily (daytrip only) runs to outside process vendors to transport raw material and machined components to and from the facility.
  • Load, secure, and unload materials and components to ensure damage-free transport.
  • Coordinate pickup and delivery schedules with the Purchasing, Materials, and Shipping teams to support production and vendor timelines.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to deliveries, pickups, and material transfers.
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections in accordance with DOT and Company requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all assigned Company vehicles (interior and exterior).
  • Promptly report mechanical, safety, or maintenance concerns to leadership.
  • Ensure vehicles are operated in compliance with all safety regulations and Company policies.
  • Assist with the chip spinning process as needed.
  • Support packaging, staging, and preparation of outgoing shipments.
  • Assist with receiving incoming components and preparing materials for shipment to outside process vendors.
  • Provide general operational support to ensure smooth material flow throughout the facility.
