About The Position

Overview: The Material and Procurement Intern will support the Manufacturing Planning and Supply Chain team in ensuring program and customer delivery requirements are met. This role offers hands-on experience in production planning, material control, supplier management, and workflow coordination. The intern will assist in various activities, including cross-functional collaboration, financial analysis, and process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management or a related discipline).
  • Open to current sophomores or juniors
  • Security clearance is not required for this position; however, the candidate should be eligible to obtain one in the future due to the nature of the work performed.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of financial analysis and budgeting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Interest in supply chain management, procurement, and material planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing conditions and priorities.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and applying new concepts in a dynamic environment.
  • Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of engineering technology.
  • Engineering Interns must be enrolled in an accredited degree program in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related scientific or technical discipline with a preference for a standing of a sophomore or higher.
  • Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing purchase requisitions, supplier negotiations, and procurement processes.
  • Support the development of material estimates and procurement documentation for proposals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including program teams, functional areas, and suppliers.
  • Contribute to supply chain efforts to monitor supplier performance and ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Conduct research and assist in identifying cost-saving alternatives and new supply sources.
  • Participate in the development of departmental budgets, KPIs, and metrics.
  • Analyze data to support financial decision-making and strategic initiatives.
  • Learn and apply cycle time management and resource planning techniques.
  • Help track critical suppliers and assess their impact on customer deliverables.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
