About The Position

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Fuel Yard plant equipment. Performs lower skilled duties involving mechanical and electrical maintenance. Responsible for operating and maintaining conveyors, dewatering belts, and various other plant systems. Key Roles & Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned. Directly or through others, the incumbent: Duties include but are not limited to, Operating power plant fuel and ash handling equipment and may include assignment to the warehouse function. Monitors equipment temperature, pressure, flow, and level gauges to assess the condition of the equipment. Performs lower skilled electrical and mechanical duties as qualified to maintain equipment. Will be required to use an assortment of tools that may include forklift operation, electrical test equipment meters, hand tools, and power tools both electrical and air operated. The majority of work will be performed in a physically demanding environment, which includes working outdoors in all types of weather conditions. As a power plant employee, the incumbent will perform some duties in operational, electrical, mechanical job functions, and other duties as assigned. Some overtime will be required. Job assignments will be made based on demonstrated skills, knowledge, abilities and qualifications. Employees shall be required to train and function as a member of the fire brigade. All work shall be performed in compliance with Safety Handbook. Performs other duties as required Position represented by IBEW 2337 and pay is $31.33 per hour. Position requires working 12hr rotating shift.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, or GED equivalent is required.
  • Good knowledge of basic math, reading and writing skills required.
  • Ability to use all hand tools and other various tools.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • All applicants (excluding applicants currently employed in specific positions in Fossil Generation) must be a successful candidate on the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS / MASS) program in order to be considered a candidate for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated power plant skills and experience preferred.
  • Experience operating mobile equipment such as forklifts and loaders is preferred.
