About The Position

The Material Specialist is responsible for the safe and efficient receipt of raw materials from external suppliers and other Mitsubishi facilities, as well as the processing, storage, and shipment of finished goods to support distribution to the Reading site. This role ensures accurate inventory control, effective material flow, and timely coordination of material transfers between Mitsubishi locations. The Material Specialist plays a key role in maintaining inventory accuracy through cycle counts, supporting ERP transactions, and ensuring all materials are handled in compliance with safety and quality standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong decision-making skills, including problem identification, analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution.
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to take initiative.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both one-on-one and in group settings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Effective organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift and other material handling equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Safely receive, inspect, and process incoming raw materials from suppliers and other Mitsubishi facilities.
  • Verify material accuracy against purchase orders and shipping documentation and complete all required ERP transactions.
  • Put away approved incoming materials in designated storage locations in accordance with inventory control and safety standards.
  • Process, stage, and ship finished goods for distribution to the Scranton site and other designated locations.
  • Coordinate and execute material transfers between Mitsubishi facilities to support production and inventory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records through regular cycle counts and timely reconciliation of discrepancies.
  • Ensure efficient product flow by monitoring inventory levels and identifying potential shortages or overages.
  • Operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely and in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve material, inventory, or process issues, escalating concerns as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, including production, logistics, and planning, to support operational goals.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with housekeeping standards.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures and actively support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
