The Material Specialist position covers a wide range of responsibilities. The main priorities include creating and maintaining items in the material master, assisting in correcting production BOMs, and maintaining an accurate inventory.
Perform daily cycle counts for raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods
Organize and clean materials while conducting counts
Monitor and maintain the integrity of inventory
Ensure that First-In, First-Out (FIFO) practices are being followed
Maintain accuracy of product identification and bins in the warehouse
Consolidate multiple bin locations while maintaining ERP default bins
Research and investigate the root causes of inventory discrepancies
Recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences, and update work instructions as necessary
Collaborate with Warehouse, Production, and Material Control to resolve inventory problems in a timely manner.
Help maintain the accuracy of non-conforming material both physically and in SAP
Work closely with Production, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Engineering to correct available floor stock and identify Bills of Materials (BOMs) that need to be corrected
Understand the Material Master and item setup process
Communicate effectively with employees within the organization and with other professionals, both within and outside of the warehouse/production areas
Familiarize yourself with the various stocking programs in the warehouse and assist the engineering department with item setup requests as needed
Investigate and report material master inaccuracies or miscalculations such as unit of measure, safety stock levels, and incorrect item descriptions
This role requires a multi-faceted individual that can be involved with many different responsibilities.
It will be key for this individual to take previous warehouse, inventory, and material master experience and be able to integrate that knowledge with the company’s goals.
Accuracy and attention to detail will be critical to the individual’s success.
Strong communication skills are essential as well as the ability to remain objective when dealing with conflicting information.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
Proficient in computer skills, with a preference for experience in SAP ERP Software and Excel spreadsheets
Strong time management and organizational skills
Exceptional attention to detail
Familiarity with analytical tools
Understanding of bill-of-materials in a production setting
Ability to understand material drawings
Previous experience with non-conforming material
Objectivity when analyzing problems
Ability to read and understand English instructions
Strong math skills required
Ability to convert units of measure
Ability to read design specifications and technical drawings
The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
