About The Position

Material/Process Inspector II: Performs material tests and manufacturing process inspections in laboratories, plants and/or at points of supply. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details. Material/Process Inspector III: Performs complex material tests and manufacturing process inspections in laboratories, plants and/or at points of supply. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.

  • High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.

  • Cutback Specialist Binder 103
  • Material/Process Inspector II: 1 year of experience in laboratory work, material inspection or other engineering related work. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
  • Material/Process Inspector III: 2 year of experience in laboratory work, material inspection or other engineering related work. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Responsibilities

  • Reviews plans and material specifications for changes in material requirements.
  • Conducts pavement evaluations in the field.
  • Maintains and calibrates equipment.
  • Secures, logs in prepared samples of raw materials or manufactured materials at various stages of productions for testing.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
  • Maintains field record books for each construction project within assigned area office.
  • Handles material or production problems referred by less experienced inspectors.
