About The Position

Performs routine transportation operations or maintenance support work such as: roadway maintenance and repair; light and heavy equipment operation; preventive and minor maintenance on equipment; traffic control; and helping the public during emergency situations. Work requires contact with private entities. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details. Essential Duties: Conducts pavement evaluations in the field. Coordinates test and inspection results with engineers, inspectors and material producers and suppliers. Keeps equipment mileage and service records and schedules equipment repairs. Maintains and calibrates equipment. Performs tests and inspection duties. Reports test results to field construction personnel and may assist in determining cause for material problems. Secures, logs in and prepares samples of raw materials or manufactured materials at various stages of production for testing. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.
• Experience: No experience required (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent).
• Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

• Preferably has knowledge of material testing.
