About The Position

This position is for a Material & Process Engineer 2 with responsibilities in nonmetallic materials and processes. Assignments to include, but not limited to, the following: Work with and obtain a broad knowledge of non-metallic materials and their related fabrication processes. Evaluate and qualify new materials for incorporation into design requirements and production operation. Support obsolescence and continuous improvement efforts. Participate in material review of discrepant material, work to identify root cause and develop preventative/corrective action. Write, modify and release updates to PMP documentation (e.g. material specification and detailed process instructions). Support testing efforts including engineering test plans, procedural development, and production acceptance testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, or related technical field from an accredited college or university
  • 2+ years of experience supporting production assembly processes
  • Demonstrated experience in the resolution of complex material and process anomalies
  • Experience working independently and in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) including requirements documentation and presentations
  • Experience with Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • Practical hands-on and general experience with non-metallic materials (e.g. paints, inks and primers, adhesives and sealants, and others)
  • Previous experience within an aerospace company working with aerospace materials
  • Knowledge of closed cell polyurethane spray foam, including the characteristics, material performance and working functionality (within or outside of the aerospace industry)
  • Basic understanding of the applications of paints/topcoats, the use of primers and the importance of surface preparation/cleanliness
  • Experience with composite structures and composite bonding practices
  • Experience with Teamcenter
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 35 pounds
