As a Material Planner on the 2nd shift at GE Appliances, you will be primarily responsible for overseeing the management of raw materials and purchased components. This role involves direct engagement with the supply base to ensure the timely shipment and receipt of materials necessary to support a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Additionally, you will collaborate with inbound transportation teams to monitor and coordinate the Just-in-Time delivery of materials. Please note that this position requires 100% onsite presence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or scientific-related field or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in process improvement, lean expertise, change management and/or process redesign within a manufacturing environment.
  • Effective communication skills for clear information exchange.
  • Flexibility and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Sound judgment, planning, and systematic skills for effective interaction with management, production teams, and supplier contacts.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the capacity to motivate teams and achieve exceptional results.

Nice To Haves

  • Working understanding of MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing and supply chain concepts, including the flow of parts through various stages.
  • In-depth understanding of the Appliance Industry.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate material requirements to ensure optimal part availability for production, proactively addressing and resolving supply issues in collaboration with suppliers.
  • Lead and support initiatives to enhance inventory accuracy, maintain Bill of Material precision, analyze excess and obsolete parts, facilitate new model introductions, and optimize logistics planning.
  • Participate in logistics improvement projects, including reduction of RIP (Receiving in Process), collection and analysis of supplier capacity data, and advancement of returnable packaging solutions.
  • Establish and sustain effective relationships with both existing and prospective suppliers to support operational objectives.
  • Coordinate and manage production schedule adjustments and supply shortages with the scheduling team to minimize disruption to manufacturing operations.
  • Assist in cycle counting activities to ensure inventory counts remain accurate and reliable.
  • Contribute to the successful phase-in and phase-out of model lines by controlling part availability for new product launches and managing obsolescence for discontinued models.
  • Drive continuous improvement in supplier performance, minimizing expedited orders and reducing inventory levels while preventing production line downtime.
