About The Position

As part of our Maritime Solutions team, you'll play a crucial role in keeping the nation's major defense programs on track and running smoothly. We are seeking a highly skilled Principle Material Planner to support the Maritime Solutions San Diego business. As a Principle Material Planner, you will be part of an integrated team estimating in the hundreds of millions across a diverse set of suppliers and commodities/categories.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline and 6 years or equivalent experience of directly related work experience in a government-contracting environment, preferably in the Ship Repair and/or Shipyard Industry.
  • Familiarity with defense industry work specifications and drawings relative to Navy ships, FAR and DFAR regulations, ITAR, and EAR regulations.
  • Understanding/knowledge of CPSR audits and requirements.
  • Comprehensive understanding of material solicitations and proposal analysis/process.
  • Ability to motivate oneself.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent time management/organizational skills.
  • Strategic/Critical Thinking.
  • Ability to find win-win solutions; a “make it happen” attitude.
  • Ability to develop and implement continuous improvement strategies.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Perform proposal preparation, review, and execution; development of proposal evaluation and selection criteria; negotiation of provisions such as price, schedule, and terms to meet or exceed proposal requirements; preparation and administration of high-value/complex material proposals.
  • Execute approved estimating policies and procedures to provide the best value consistent with quality and service requirements.
  • Develop and evaluate material proposals in accordance with specifications, requirements, work statements, and proposal requirements.
  • Emphasize bills of material (BOM) validation as a Quality Controller, proposal development, produce high-quality BOM, review work specifications and drawings, maintain and improve the quality and accuracy of the BOM.
  • Respond to supplier inquiries, resolve issues, support Life Cycle Management efforts to support proposal execution, drive Partner2Win initiatives, and evaluate supplier performance.
