About The Position

The Material Handling Operator (MHO) is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of materials to and from designated work centers using powered industrial trucks (PITs), primarily forklifts. This role plays a critical part in maintaining an organized and productive warehouse environment by ensuring materials and products are accurately staged and available for production. The MHO will also assist with general material handling duties as needed to support staffing and workflow requirements across the facility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Relevant experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or a similar environment preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with sit-down forklift.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Ability to learn and perform multiple roles within the warehouse department.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with coworkers and leadership.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and meet dynamic operational demands.
  • Dependability and a strong work ethic with a commitment to safety and quality.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50+ pounds individually and with assistance.
  • Regular physical activities include standing, walking, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Required to use hands and arms for handling and operating equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport materials to and from work centers using forklifts or other designated equipment, ensuring materials are properly handled and staged.
  • Receive work assignments and instructions from the area Supervisor or Lead and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Operate all assigned equipment in strict compliance with company safety policies and OSHA standards, avoiding injury to personnel or damage to materials, equipment, and property.
  • Assist in material handling and warehouse support functions when required to meet department needs or fill in for absent team members.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and report any maintenance or safety concerns to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment, including sweeping work areas, removing debris, and cleaning equipment.
  • Regularly lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds using safe lifting practices.
  • Work scheduled shifts and be available for overtime and weekend work as business needs dictate.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support operational goals.
  • Other duties as assigned
