About The Position

The Material Handler at Berry Global, Inc. is responsible for safely moving finished goods and supplies to designated areas while ensuring accurate documentation. This entry-level position emphasizes safety, quality, and effective communication within the team, contributing to the overall efficiency of the production process.

Requirements

  • Ability to wear all required PPE (steel toed shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, and other PPE as required).
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely at all times.
  • Ability to read and understand company documents.
  • Ability to communicate with other employees.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, simple checklists, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

Responsibilities

  • Safely move finished goods and supplies to designated areas.
  • Ensure all associated documentation is accurately filled out and properly submitted.
  • Follow all company policies regarding safety, quality, and attendance.
  • Perform duties in a safe manner and report all observed safety hazards to management.
  • Act as a role model for safety on the shift.
  • Participate in safety programs by reporting unsafe conditions, unsafe acts, and close calls.
  • Enter near miss data and observations into the Global Data Center database.
  • Operate the forklift in a safe manner at all times.
  • Perform safety checks before using the forklift each shift.
  • Accurately stage and return raw materials for production using the correct scripts.
  • Complete a skid of finished goods at the correct quantity.
  • Remove finished goods from the line in a timely manner and place on production wrapper with the correct label applied to the skid.
  • Properly document and dispose of scrap.
  • Accurately document all required end-of-shift paperwork.
  • Maintain great housekeeping skills.
  • Perform put-away and scan finished goods to the correct bin location.
  • Clear the release areas of all finished goods and maintain it.
  • Other tasks as assigned by management, supervisor, or lead.
