About The Position

BlueScope Coated Products is one of the largest coil coating companies in the United States, with facilities across the country. With more than four decades of expertise providing painted metal coils and toll processing services for industries in the construction and consumer product markets, we pride ourselves on delivering premium quality, reliable service, and ongoing innovation to our customers. Under general supervision, the Material Handler fulfills a number of different material handling roles. Position placement is determined based on the needs of the business. These roles include: Exit Assistant, Pack Line, or Forklift : These material handlers prepare and package finished coils in a safe manner to a designated location which includes operating exit recoiler controls, packaging equipment or driving a forklift. Paint Room Attendant : Responsible for receiving paint drum deliveries, paint delivery and paint usage data entry, retrieving and storing paint from the paint store, driving a forklift and operating the paint room crane. Warehouse : Responsible for loading/unloading coils from trucks/rail and handling paperwork. A Bay Crane : Responsible for pulling raw coils for the paint line entry end, unwrapping and inspecting raw coils and unloading/loading trucks using an overhead crane. Receiving : Responsible for entering receiving data into Oracle, creating coil identification tags, attaching identification tags to coils and operating the overhead crane Dispatch : Responsible for retrieving pick slips from Oracle, locating finished goods material, pull the required coils by driving a forklift, loading trucks using the overhead stacker crane and scanning coil fields for Oracle.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test as a condition of employment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Time Management – prioritizing work to meet internal and/or external customer demands
  • Detail Oriented – ensures accuracy of product and documentation to meet internal and/or external customer demands
  • Good communication skills
  • Mobile equipment operations skills

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift experience
  • Manufacturing/warehouse experience
