Material Handler – Greenfield, IN Standard schedule is Monday through Friday 3:30pm – 12:00am. Overtime during the week is typically 3:30pm – 12:00am and Saturdays when needed. Material Handler The Material Handler is responsible for the efficient and accurate handling and movement of materials to support production operations and inventory control. This role involves receiving, storing, staging, issuing, and moving materials while maintaining inventory accuracy and adhering to safety and quality standards. The Material Handler operates material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, utilizes ERP/MRP systems for data entry and inventory management, and collaborates with team members and other departments to ensure smooth material flow.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 6 months to 1 year of material handling and inventory experience required.
  • Familiarity with material handling and material movement.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Ability to use proper lifting techniques and material movement equipment effectively.
  • Ability to be flexible in role, adjusting to new processes, technologies, or production requirements.
  • Ability to handle material and parts.
  • Perform repetitive motions (bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, lifting, gripping, and grasping with hands).
  • Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs.

  • Ability to work in environments with noise, chemicals, dust, sharp objects, moving/rotating mechanical parts, and temperature extremes.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of material movement and inventory experience preferred.
  • Forklift operations experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, stage, issue, and deliver materials within the facility to support production schedules and customer orders.
  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment, ensuring equipment is in good working order.
  • Load and unload materials from trucks and containers, inspecting incoming goods for damage or discrepancies.
  • Accurately enter inventory transactions into ERP/MRP systems or scanning devices to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Perform cycle counts, assist with physical inventories, and reconcile discrepancies, reporting issues to supervisors.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and material movement documentation, supporting quality assurance and root cause analysis.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, use PPE, practice proper lifting techniques, and report potential hazards.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas and properly store tools and equipment.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, engineers, and quality control personnel to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by working overtime when needed, cross-training in other areas, and adapting to new processes or technologies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
