About The Position

1 REPORTING RELATIONSHIP Reports to the Materials Supervisor. 2 PURPOSE 2.1 Function 2.1.1 To efficiently pick up and deliver materials and returnable containers to support production in the manufacture of automobile directional control system components. 2.2 Authority 2.2.1 Associates have the authority to stop the production process for quality concerns and safety issues. 2.2.2 Associates will be trained and issued a forklift license and have the authority to operate powered material handling equipment safely. 3 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 3.1 Operate powered vehicles following all safety rules; 3.2 Perform daily preventive maintenance powered vehicle check sheet; 3.3 Perform preventive maintenance as required; 3.4 Perform in a safe and orderly manner as assigned for designated route; 3.5 Ensure materials are delivered with the correct part and quantities to support specified production rates; 3.6 Remove Kanbans from tote and return to place in Kanban post; 3.7 Remove part I.D. tags and trash from all totes before returning to tote storage area; 3.8 Remove all trash from the line at the end of the shift; 3.9 Place Scrap in designated areas; 3.10 Recycle cardboard into the “cardboard compactor;” 3.11 Notify team leader if parts are not available on stock racks; 3.12 Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or team leader. 4 MEASUREMENTS/COMPETENCIES 4.1 Quality of work performed; 4.2 Attendance record; 4.3 Ability to work with others (teamwork); 4.4 Safety record; 4.5 Housekeeping; 4.6 Internal/external customer satisfaction. 5 SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITY This position has no supervisor responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Requires high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must have a TABE test of cumulative score of 8 or better.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must have valid DAC forklift training and license.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and performing repetitive tasks.
  • Must be able to lift up to 32 pounds at a time.
  • Must have manual dexterity in order to assemble products or machines as directed.
  • Must have excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to differentiate between colored wires, tabs, and electronic components.
  • Must wear gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes, and ear protection, per the Elemental Operations Instructions Safety Points.

  • Prefer individuals with material handling backgrounds or mechanical abilities.
