The Material Handler at McLane Global is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient movement, storage, and handling of materials within the distribution center. This role supports receiving, inventory management, order fulfillment, and shipping activities to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to customers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repetitively and stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Team-oriented with good communication skills.
  • Basic computer literacy (for inventory and order tracking).
  • Commitment to workplace safety, food safety and efficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • 1–2 years of warehouse, logistics, or material handling experience preferred.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and RF scanners a plus.
  • Forklift certification or ability to become certified preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Unload incoming shipments and verify materials against purchase orders or packing slips.
  • Inspect materials for damage and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Move materials to designated storage areas using riding electric pallet jacks, or other material-handling equipment.
  • Ensure proper labeling, organization, and storage of products following warehouse layout and safety procedures.
  • Accurately pick materials according to order specifications using RF scanners or pick lists.
  • Prepare, pack, and stage orders for shipment in compliance with company standards.
  • Assist in preparing shipping documentation and loading outbound shipments.
  • Ensure all outgoing materials meet customer and carrier requirements.
  • Operate warehouse equipment safely and maintain cleanliness of the work area.
  • Follow all safety guidelines, including Food Safety, PPE use, equipment inspection, and proper lifting techniques.
