About The Position

Join a fast growing building products manufacturing company that is expanding in the North Canton area. Sims-Lohman is expanding our fabrication team, and have an immediate opening for a Material Handler with Overhead Crane, Forklift, and clerical customer service experience. Summary: Locate and move stone according to delivery and fabrication schedules.

Requirements

• 2+ year's experience safely moving large building products or other large materials such as granite slabs
• 2+ year's experience safely using overhead crane; 5 ton.
• 2+ year's experience safely operating forklift
• 2+ year's light clerical experience; WMS and Microsoft Suite Exp preferred.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
• Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation

Responsibilities

• Read and follow delivery and fabrication schedules.
• Safely operate overhead crane to move/organize stone using pinch clamp and nylon bundle straps.
• Safely operate fork-lifts to load material carts and empty refuse hopper
• Effectively communicate with shop supervisor and saw operators to facilitate their needs.
• Effectively communicate with sales people and customers to make certain that they are not walking/standing in harm’s way.
• Secure all stone in warehouse using safety straps.
• Monitor inventory to make certain that it is being stored in a safe manner.
• Check all equipment for signs of wear or damage prior to operating.
• Inspect all deliveries to ensure that we are receiving quality material and bringing all defects to the attention of supervisor and delivery driver.
• At the end of the day and various times throughout the day will clean the work areas he has worked in to ensure cleanliness and safe work conditions are maintained.
• Will perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure safe and effective operation.
• Will perform some clerical work to assist with product management
• Will perform some customer service duties assisting with order pickup and other needs.
• Other duties may be assigned.
