About The Position

Service Wire Company, a premier supplier of industrial and utility wire and cable, is currently seeking a 1st shift Material Handler/High Reach Operator in Houston, TX. Position Summary: The Material Handler/High Reach Operator is responsible for supporting warehouse operations by efficiently receiving, transporting, and organizing materials throughout the facility. This role ensures accurate inventory management, safe material handling, and the timely preparation of orders for shipment. Operating forklifts—including high reach trucks—is essential, along with maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment in accordance with company standards and safety protocols. Material Handler Service Wire is a premier manufacturer of industrial, utility, and commercial wire and cable. Our regional manufacturing location in Houston is seeking a conscientious and team-oriented Material Handler with proficiency with high-reach forklifts to join our organization in this full-time position.

Requirements

  • High-reach forklift proficiency
  • Basic math and measuring skills
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and respond to general instructions and directions
  • Ability to stand and move about facility for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds. Assistance provided as needed.
  • Company forklift operation training and certification
  • High school diploma/GED (General Equivalency Diploma) or one year related industrial experience or equivalent training
  • Must be able to work in hot and cold environments without climate-control
  • In-person attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Forklift operation proficiency, high reach preferred
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and respond to general instructions and directions
  • Ability to stand and move about facility for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds. Assistance provided as needed.
  • High school diploma/GED (General Equivalency Diploma) or one year related industrial experience or equivalent training
  • Personal protective equipment is required
  • Continuous participation in company safety training

Responsibilities

  • Process material cuts according to customer specifications and record distribution data
  • Palletize and prepare orders for shipment using a stand-up, high-reach forklift
  • Work to maintain inventory stock and an organized warehouse
  • Transports wire and materials throughout facility on a forklift
  • Maintain safety standards and organized work environment
  • Receive and unload materials
  • Palletize and prepare orders for shipment on occasion
