Material Handler – Indianapolis, IN Indianapolis Exits Plant Material Hander The Material Handler is responsible for the efficient and accurate handling and movement of materials to support production operations and inventory control. This role involves receiving, storing, staging, issuing, and moving materials while maintaining inventory accuracy and adhering to safety and quality standards. The Material Handler operates material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, utilizes ERP/MRP systems for data entry and inventory management, and collaborates with team members and other departments to ensure smooth material flow.

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Familiarity with material handling and material movement.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Ability to use proper lifting techniques and material movement equipment effectively.
  • Ability to be flexible in role, adjusting to new processes, technologies, or production requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, stage, issue, and deliver materials within the facility to support production schedules and customer orders.
  • Safely operate pallet jacks and other manual material handling equipment.
  • Load and unload materials from trucks and containers.
  • Accurately enter inventory transactions into ERP/MRP systems or scanning devices.
  • Perform cycle counts, assist with physical inventories, and report discrepancies to supervisors.
  • Inspect incoming materials for damage or discrepancies and maintain accurate inventory documentation.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, use PPE, and practice proper lifting techniques.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas and properly store tools and equipment.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, engineers, and quality control personnel to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by working overtime when needed, cross-training in other areas, and adapting to new processes or technologies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
