About The Position

The purpose of the Material Handler position is to unload/load; transport; stage and deliver raw materials, work in process materials, and finished products to assigned locations both inside and outside various buildings. This is accomplished with material handling equipment including forklifts and may also at times involve the use of industrial cranes.

Requirements

Ability to learn and practice the proper operation of material handling equipment.
Ability to learn and identify the various materials used to manufacture and sell company products.
Forklift licenses for this position are a company requirement.

Responsibilities

Run a forklift and secure a forklift license if required.
Perform duties with a high degree of accuracy and in a manner that makes the most efficient use of time.
Work in assignments outside of material handling during periods of decreased production/idle time.
Make accurate transactions of material movements on computer or handheld terminals.
Use hand and power tools correctly by assignment.
Be familiar and cognizant of safety guidelines throughout the company.
Maintain a good attendance and punctuality record.
Have good organizational skills.
Be able to read and interpret stacking lists, load listings, bills of lading and other standard operating procedures.
Have good communication and interpersonal skills, as they will interact with other departments, professional staff and management of the company.
Be able to work with limited supervision and show/demonstrate initiative, tact, good judgement and sound reasoning.
Be able to handle the physical requirements of the position.
Have neat and legible handwriting.
Perform other related duties as directed by supervision.
