About The Position

This Material Handler position operates Monday to Friday, from 6:15 AM to 3:00 PM, with an hourly rate of $21.50. The role is crucial for maintaining accident-free operations and ensuring compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations. Key responsibilities include the daily inspection and safe operation of forklifts, including changing propane tanks. The Material Handler is responsible for timely provision of supplies and materials to extrusion operators and production assistants, such as capping, dunnage boards, boxes, and scrap bins. The role may also involve assisting with wrapping and banding finished materials, moving them to storage, and scanning completed material racks. Further duties include potentially assisting with loading regrind into silos or bags, operating and maintaining grinders, providing production support by staging bins, skids, and raw materials, and assisting with recycling cardboard and other waste products. Depending on the plant location (Wood, PVC, or Rail), the Material Handler may also assist the Receiving Department with loading and unloading trucks and observing/documenting silo readings to ensure sufficient material for daily production. The position requires performing additional duties as assigned by supervision or management. Requirements

  • Ability to safely operate a forklift.
  • Ability to inspect forklifts and change propane tanks.
  • Ability to scan materials.
  • Ability to assist with grinder operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to assist with loading/unloading trucks (depending on plant).
  • Ability to observe and document silo readings (depending on plant).

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to accident-free operations and compliance to all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements and regulations.
  • Inspect forklift daily, change propane tanks as needed, and safely operate forklift.
  • Ensure extrusion operators and production assistants obtain needed supplies and materials in a timely manner (i.e. capping, dunnage boards, boxes, scrap bins).
  • May assist in wrapping and banding finished material and moving to storage area on occasion.
  • Scan completed material rack before transporting to designated storage area.
  • May assist loading regrind into silos or bags as directed.
  • Assist in the operation and general maintenance of grinders as requested.
  • Provide production support in the staging of bins, skids, and raw materials.
  • Assist in recycling of cardboard and other waste products.
  • Depending on plant (Wood, PVC or Rail), may assist Receiving Department in loading and unloading of trucks.
  • Depending on plant (Wood, PVC or Rail), may observe and document silo readings to ensure appropriate amount of material is available for daily production.
  • Perform additional duties as needed and/or assigned by supervision/management.
