About The Position

Summary of Duties: The Material Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient movement, storage, and staging of raw materials and finished goods within a metal manufacturing facility. This role supports production by ensuring materials are available, accurately tracked, and transported in accordance with production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Requirements

  • 1–2 years of warehouse or material handling experience preferred (manufacturing environment a plus).
  • Basic understanding of inventory control and production flow.
  • Working knowledge of standard material handling and storage practices.
  • Ability to read and follow written work instructions accurately.
  • Clear communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach at varying heights.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50–70 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to repetitively handle materials, including grasping, gripping, and manual dexterity tasks.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment.
  • Ability to climb stairs and step on/off equipment as required.
  • Ability to work in environments with moderate to high noise levels, exposure to dust, metal materials, oils, and industrial odors, temperature variations (hot and cold).
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety shoes, gloves, and eye protection.

Responsibilities

  • Safely unload incoming shipments of raw materials.
  • Verify materials against shipping documentation and report discrepancies.
  • Store raw materials (including copper and aluminum) in designated rack locations.
  • Pull and stage materials according to fabrication and plating production schedules.
  • Transport materials between warehouses, fabrication, plating, and other designated areas.
  • Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment in accordance with safety policies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and complete required documentation.
  • Follow all department procedures related to quality, accuracy, and material control.
  • Assist with monthly safety inspections and maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to workflow and material flow.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by department management.
