About The Position

Summary Supports Casting, Adhesive, Converting, and Shipping/Receiving Departments by operating sit-down and stand-up forklift trucks and pallet jacks to push, pull, lift, stack, or move products or materials by performing the following duties. Schedule: Monday - Friday 2pm - 10:30pm Saturdays as needed Essential Duties and Responsibilities Follows all Forklift Safety Practices while operating lift. Reads work orders to determine appropriate material required to set up machines. Uses forklift to deliver material and returns and logs unused material to storage. Stores and logs completed material on racks in hanging stock area after it is manufactured by casting or coating department. Scans all rolls for movement from location to location. Performs inventory transactions on computer system. Rotates raw material and hanging stock from newest to oldest as necessary to ensure that the oldest material is used first. Performs safety/maintenance check of forklift prior to first use each shift. Verifies that material is not damaged prior to transporting it to and from storage areas. Reports damage to supervisor. Packages cut finished rolls for shipment to customer or stock. Applies label to core and/or box as required by customer requirements. Prepares packaging materials as needed for daily converting requirements; includes cores, boxes and pallets. Reports any damage to facility that is incurred or discovered during shift. Attends annual Hazardous Waste Training. Also refer to "Specific Hazardous Waste Responsibilities" description maintained by engineering and/or lab personnel. Maintains an orderly, neat and safe work area. Removal of waste from production areas Effectively and efficiently coordinates Receiving and Shipping of materials the manufacturing plant. Coordinates communication and follow-up among Transportation, Purchasing, Customer Service, Scheduling and Accounting departments. Performs any other activity as required for by Management.

Requirements

  • Certified to operate sit-down, stand-up forklifts and riding pallet jacks
  • Manages time efficiently
  • Ability to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events
  • Initiative to ask for and offer help when needed
  • Generates suggestions for improving work
  • Ability to use hand tools such as hammer, tin snips, crowbar, and utility knife safely
  • Physical demands include regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear and climb a ladder with great heights.
  • The employee is frequently required to; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 3-5-years manufacturing or distribution experience
  • Prior forklift driving certification required and ability to recertify upon hire
