Job Responsibilities: Objectives: Material Handlers are responsible for the transporting and delivering of production materials to the correct are within the plant using the proper equipment, tools and procedures outlined by the department. Material Handlers will work to assist the Bowling Green Metalforming to successfully meet the division’s goals and objectives. Job Responsibility: (This job description in no way implies that these are the only duties to be performed in this position. Team members will be required to follow any other job related instructions or to perform other job duties requested by their leader) Know and understand Bowling Green Metalforming Quality and Environmental policies. Perform other duties as required. Attend and participate in Team, Department, Plant-wide and any other meetings as required. Operate heavy equipment (forklift) in a manufacturing environment in a manner that does not endanger themselves or any other workers. Carry out and record incoming and outgoing inspection of parts, tags, racks, lift trucks, part tagger, etc. Contribute to continuous improvement, problem solving, corrective actions and cost reduction activities to assist BGM in meeting targets and goals. Maintain inventory by labeling, and properly placing material and supplies in their correct location. Responsible for operating inventory scanner and cycle material based on FIFO Standards. Assist in restructuring storage locations, plant modifications and line staging requirements. Establish and maintain communication with other departments. Responsible for delivering information to the Team Leaders in terms of unexpected production changes. Supporting Press operators with all materials needs ranging from logistics of completed part bins, ensuring empty bins are at the press ready for part storage, and bin set up (breaking down, setting up.) Ensuring that bins are properly labeled before being delivered to final destination. Ability to be trained on and drive the combi lift safely.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Successfully obtain BGM forklift license
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
  • Computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
  • Operate standard office equipment preferred
  • Able to be flexible in hours of work on short notice in order to meet internal/external customer requirements (scheduled and non-scheduled overtime shifts, etc.)
  • Possible Shift Work
  • Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time, and occasional bending and stooping.
  • Must have good visual perception and pass any physical examinations required for the safe operation of a Forklift and Tugger
  • Ability to lift minimum of 40 pounds.
