About The Position

Material Handler - Shipping General Purpose: This position is responsible to prepare and package products for shipment. Verifies that products match customer order quantities and descriptions. Makes written and computerized records of packaging and shipping information. Utilizes carpentry skills with hand tools and power tools to fabricate cartons, skids, crates, and other customer packaging. Wraps, protects, bands, seals, glues, nails, and labels products as needed for damage-free shipment. Weighs, stacks, and arranges items being staged for shipment. Loads products into trucks and shipping containers and secures each load for damage-free transit. Coordinates with Assembly, KD Pack, Material Handling, PIC and the Sales/Customer Service departments as needed to meet production and shipping schedules. Performs all job duties in accordance with safe work practices.

Requirements

  • Forklift license or the ability to obtain a forklift license
  • Ability to use required measuring tools such as calipers, gauges, tape measure, etc.
  • Ability to work cooperatively within the team as well as with members of other teams as needed.
  • Demonstrate willingness to adapt to a continually changing environment.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours as business needs require.
  • Competent in basic math skills such as counting, adding, and subtracting.
  • Required to stand, walk, and use hands for the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to regularly lift and move up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with or without accommodations.

  • Performs all job duties in accordance with safe work practices.
  • Demonstrates clear communication, both verbal and written, with peers and managers.
  • Self-motivated needing minimal supervision and has a good attendance record.
  • Physically able to perform rigorous daily activities and heavy lifting as needed.
  • Able to perform visual quality inspections and apply aerosol spray paints.
  • Is organized, does accurate work, and is attentive to details.
  • Computer literate.
  • Able to understand written shipping documentation and instructions.
  • Able to assist seasonal/summer help with assigned work.
