About The Position

The Material Handler assists the inspector and/or operates the exit end of the Tenter Frame. The Material Handler helps inspect every produced fabric lot for flaws and helps record and mark flaws on fabric. The Material Handler is responsible for labeling and bagging each finished roll and placing it in the specified rack. The Material Handler will assist the inspector when cutting out a roll of fabric. The role of the Material Handler will report directly to the Operations Manager. The Material Handler will take direction from the Inspector or the Frame Operator. Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Good communication skills
  • Must be computer literate and be able to perform simple functions such as data input.
  • Ability to work during non-peak, off scheduled shift and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to learn, analyze, listen and follow instructions!
  • Desire to contribute to the company’s continuous improvement process
  • Must always maintain a professional attitude and appearance.
  • Must be able to multitask and be cross-trained.
  • Minimum education requirements include being able to read and write in English, read, and understand instructions and explain problems.
  • Physical abilities to stand, walk and kneel on concrete floors, climb ladders, move up to 80-pound rolls of ticking fabric safely without assistance, reach above head and have flexibility to twist and turn in tight places.
  • The Material Handler must be able to assist in moving rolls of fabric that weigh up to 350 lbs.
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to lint, chemicals, and heat in summer months.
  • Must comply with all safety, quality and production requirements and instructions.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a Textile environment preferred but not required.
  • Experience in training fellow associates

Responsibilities

  • Inform Quality Control about any and all defects on material produced.
  • Make sure all reference samples are cut and placed in the Quality Control bin.
  • Follow specifications on package size, specific paper cores, specific color plastic bags, specific shipping instructions.
  • Report safety and maintenance problems throughout the day to Management and/or Maintenance Supervisor
  • Put empty recycled cores and trash rolls in designated areas immediately.
  • Responsible for notifying Operations Manager for needed inspection supplies or rack removal.
  • Always maintain a clean and organized work area!
