About The Position

The Material Handler, under the direction of the Department Supervisor and in cooperation with the Team Leader, handles materials and expedite parts to fill appropriate sales order needs. Accurately and efficiently pack and ship all parts on time. What You'll Do: Pull, gather, verify, and inspect all parts by sales order. Assist with shipping documents when backlog occurs, as necessary. Pack all parts per requirements for LTL shipping, both domestic and international requirements. Operate needed equipment to move freight. Comply with all Astec’s safety rules and guidelines. Operating knowledge of Forklift a plus but not required. Computer experience is desired, particularly the ability to use a mouse, and locate and open/close files. Adept at problem-solving. Adaptable to new situations and challenges. Open to changes and new ideas. Ability to satisfactorily work alone with reasonable instructions, training, and supervision, and ability to work with others respectfully and professionally in a team environment. Ability to communicate, express one’s needs, and ask questions. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and written and/or oral instructions. The ability to handle the stress that accompanies production standards and deadlines. The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, very warm and/or very chilly temperatures. The noise level in the shop can be very loud at times consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection. Requirements
