MAJOR GOAL: This position is responsible for accurate receiving, storing, shipping, repackaging, and palletizing of product to meet company standards of sanitation, safety, security and productivity.

Requirements

  • High school or G.E.D. degree; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to learn and effectively use software applications such as move management, timekeeping, HRIS and other software systems used in the performance of job duties.

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.

  • Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point)

  • Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
  • Must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods (at least 2 hours straight, four times in an 8-hour day)
  • Must be able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a frequent basis.
  • Must be able to use hands and feet simultaneously and for repetitive movements.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • The employee must be able to carry and climb a ladder.

Responsibilities

  • Pick and pack (order picking and/or assembly of products in less than full case lots), light assembly (assembly of light mechanical or electrical component parts or sub-assemblies that may require the use of hand tools) and record storage.
  • Repack or re-box cases per customer instructions.
  • Repair and recoup damaged goods as required.
  • Count all product, compare to manifest and check all shipments for damage, infestation and production code dates.
  • Report shortages, damages and miss-shipments on appropriate forms.
  • Sign for inbound shipments when necessary.
  • Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations.
  • Efficiently stack and store merchandise.
  • Ensure that the correct number and type of product is picked.
  • Compare quantity, labeling and address with order to ensure outgoing shipments are complete and correct.
  • Transport orders to shipping locations or delivery platforms with material handling equipment.
  • Stencil, tag or mark orders as required.
  • Perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking as needed.
  • Accept signature for outbound as necessary.
  • Efficiently move product into trailers, rail cars or containers.
  • Assist in physical inventories and cycle counts.
  • Ensure proper stock rotation.
  • Operate shrink-wrap machine.
  • Charge forklift battery/gas tanks as needed; repair pallets when necessary; clean railcars, trailers, and truck bays as requested
  • Maintain a clean neat and orderly work area
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures.
  • Report all unsafe activities to supervisor.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
