Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months of previous forklift or material handling experience in a manufacturing or logistics setting.
  • Must possess a valid and current driver’s license.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal format.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends with little advanced notice.
  • Ability to stand on feet continuously during working shift with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Able to regularly lift up to 35 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation. Occasionally lift more than 35 lbs. with assistance.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment as required by company policy and procedure.
  • Ability to work overtime when required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a forklift to move raw materials, components, supplies, and finished goods.
  • Load and unload trailers.
  • Pick and pull stock for delivery.
  • Organize pallet area in the backyard on regular basis (assist during backyard attendant absence).
  • Organize material storage locations in backyard and inside the building on a regular basis.
  • Complete daily forklift inspection.
  • Primary owner for recycling duties for assigned area (i.e., emptying cardboard bins to the cardboard baler daily, operating cardboard baler, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems as they arise.
  • Keep work areas clean and safe.
  • Supports all facility Continuous Improvement and LEAN initiatives.
  • Maintain 5-S (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain) throughout shop floor and office areas.
  • Track and sustain all visual management tools such as, but not limited to: layered audits, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) boards, and any additional LEAN tools that are deemed necessary to provide direction, goals and status to the shop floor.
  • Encourage, support, and actively participate in Kaizen improvements and events throughout the facility, department, and area of responsibility.
  • Other various duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
