About The Position
Atkore International is seeking a dedicated Material Handler to join our team in Thomasville, GA. This position plays a crucial role in our manufacturing process, reporting directly to the Manufacturing Shift Lead. The Material Handler will be responsible for packaging finished PVC pipe in proper crate quantities for shipment, ensuring that all products meet quality specifications through thorough inspections. Additionally, the role involves providing valuable input on improving product flow, which is essential for maintaining efficiency in our operations. The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent and must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted. Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is highly desirable, as it will contribute to the candidate's ability to perform effectively in this role. In this position, the Material Handler will engage in various responsibilities that include packaging finished pipe according to established standards, conducting inspections to verify proper print lines and quality specifications, and performing general maintenance and cleanup in production and storage areas. The Material Handler will also be tasked with identifying equipment issues and providing suggestions for enhancing product flow. Adherence to safety procedures is paramount, and the Material Handler must report any potentially unsafe conditions immediately to ensure a safe working environment. Within the first three months, the Material Handler is expected to become proficient in packing and bundling products according to packaging standards and complete any required training. The individual will also assist with quality control duties and develop relationships with key stakeholders, gaining a comprehensive understanding of Atkore's Business System and the significance of their role in daily operations.
