About The Position

Operates the core-cutter and the wrapping machine, and moves finished goods to assigned areas by performing the following duties. The employee is responsible for visually inspecting the load prior to wrapping, reporting any discrepancies to the foreman, and ensuring that the pallets contain the proper material. They pack the material to meet customer specifications and send it to the wrapping machine ensuring good quality as well as a substantial wrap. The role may also involve custom packaging including box assembly and sheet packaging, as well as packaging various items for mailing such as finished goods, equipment, tools, and booklets. The employee operates other machines in the department such as manual banding, air banding, band saw, staple gun, staple machine, nail gun, and hand lifts in a safe and efficient manner. They move wrapped pallets to the proper storage area in shipping, ensuring they have been properly labeled and accurately recorded. The employee operates the core machine to ensure on-time delivery to the Slitting/Calender Department with cores meeting predetermined specifications and maintains proper safety and housekeeping practices at all times.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of basic PC and keyboarding functions.
  • Fork Truck License.
