About the position
The Material Handler is responsible for loading, unloading, and conveying materials within or near the plant, yard, or work site. This role involves performing a combination of tasks under specific direction, which may include shipping and/or receiving. The Material Handler will open containers using hand tools, count and weigh materials, and record information. Additionally, they will load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, conveyors, and machines by hand, as well as load or unload materials into or from trucks by hand. The position also requires conveying materials using various devices such as wheelbarrows, hand trucks, forklifts, electric dollies, elevators, or other equipment. The Material Handler will stack or assemble materials and assist machine operators by lifting heavy objects either by hand or using a power hoist.
