About The Position

The responsibilities of this position are to receive steel, handle rejected steel, place or remove steel from inventory, physically and in the computers, process all paperwork for receipts and rejections, deliver steel to presses, other material handling & inventory control tasks as needed, perform housekeeping tasks as needed. Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One or more years of experience in the industry.
• Hands-on experience.
• Preferably Hi-Lo and Overhead crane License.
• Valid Michigan Driver License.
• Experience with basic computer systems.
• Ability to speak effectively with fellow employees or customers.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as basic algebra.
• Detail oriented.
• Organized and able to meet deadlines while performing multiple duties.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Must be able to pass a pre-hire physical and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks delivering raw material using 23,000 lbs industrial fork lift.
• Ability to safely operate overhead crane ranging from 10-40 ton.
• Measure steel to determine width and thickness.
• Identify job the raw material is used in.
• Document job number on raw material.
• Log received material in MRP system (Plex).
• Place raw material in warehouse and group similar raw material together.
• Maintain all re-weights of material returned from production.
• Pull & pre-stage raw material using industrial fork lift.
• Participate in raw material inventory audit by weighing raw material.
• Place scrapped raw material in container for delivery to scrap dealer.
• Support press operators by replacing full tubs with empty tubs.
• Support press operators by replacing slug tubs.
• Perform an initial walk-around of your forklift to ensure that it is in good working order before operating it, and report any problems or irregularities to maintenance.
• Training of new employees that apply to material handling responsibilities.
• Must have the ability to balance multiple tasks and priorities.
• Must be able to operate forklift and overhead crane taking into consideration human traffic.
• Must be able to work overtime as required.
• Ability to communicate well and work with others.
