About The Position

The Material Handler/Water Spider position at IPS Corporation in Durham, NC, is a critical role responsible for ensuring that workstations are fully stocked with the necessary materials to maintain a continuous flow of productivity. This position is essential for meeting daily production and on-time delivery schedules. The Material Handler operates in a fast-paced environment, requiring excellent communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively. The primary function of this role involves coordinating and delivering component parts essential for sustaining manufacturing operations while performing various material handling duties. In this role, the Material Handler supports all Production Operators, ensuring they never have to leave their workstation for materials or tools. Responsibilities include conducting changeovers and refills of adhesive materials promptly, cleaning material containers at the wash station, retrieving and organizing crates or carts as needed, and storing items in an orderly manner on stock shelves or racks. The Material Handler also plays a vital role in maintaining a clean and efficient flow in the factory by taking on occasional tasks that may not occur every cycle but are necessary as needed. Additionally, the position involves marking stock items using identification tags, cleaning and maintaining supplies and equipment, distributing materials to appropriate departments, and inspecting materials for defects. The Material Handler is expected to assist in 5S, continuous improvement, and Lean activities proactively and as assigned, while maintaining a clean, safe, organized, and efficient work area. The role also requires the disposal of hazardous waste in appropriate containers and transporting it to the central accumulation area. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory, including half or full-face respirators, to ensure safety in the workplace.
