About The Position

Cornell Retail Services (CRS) is a dynamic hub of the Cornell University campus, recognized as a national leader in collegiate retailing and a self-funded enterprise. CRS strives to deliver legendary customer service and quality products to meet the needs of the Cornell Community. The team leads a multi-channel retail business, including a 22,000 sq. ft. flagship campus store, three e-commerce sites, a full-service print shop, and satellite store locations throughout the Ithaca area, ultimately producing $26 million in annual retail sales. The Material Handler will be responsible for the daily receiving, shipping, and delivery of merchandise at the Cornell Store Warehouse, supporting more than $26 million in in-store and satellite location sales. This position requires working efficiently in a fast-paced team environment, demonstrating strong organizational skills, and maintaining a positive working relationship with team members and the campus community.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalency.
  • 3-5 years of related warehouse, shipping/receiving, material handling, and e-commerce order fulfillment experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain certification for forklift operation and stock picker within 6 months of being hired.
  • Ability to work flexible hours with a schedule that varies depending on business needs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and regularly lift 70-250 lbs using appropriate hand and power tools.
  • Have a valid New York State driver’s license, which must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Ability to periodically drive a delivery truck on Cornell’s Ithaca campus.
  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and well-being.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of retail terminology and products.
  • Knowledge of domestic and international shipping methods and standards.
  • Experience with NetSuite ERP and/or RF Smart.

Responsibilities

  • Receive a high volume of packages annually.
  • Support the efficiency and accuracy in the receiving and shipping of retail merchandise.
  • Help support web order fulfillment.
  • Work efficiently and prioritize appropriately in a fast-paced team environment.

  • Utilize strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
