About The Position

The Material Handler - Production Support (Night Shift) position directly supports production processes by safely moving required containers and production materials between the warehouse and production facilities and subsequently moving finished goods from post-production areas to final packaging and warehouse temporary staging or storage locations. This position is responsible for maintaining the flow of materials to support production schedules and meet shipping deadlines. The Material Handler will utilize various equipment and systems to manage inventory accurately and safely. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are essential to minimize errors and ensure a safe working environment. Ultimately, the success of manufacturing and warehouse operations relies heavily on the effective performance of the Material Handler - Production Support function and their active communication with both production and warehouse Leads.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2 years of proven material handling experience in an industrial production or warehouse work environment using forklifts, pallet jacks, scanners, stretch-wrap machines
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience using an ERP or inventory management software and MS Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Must complete employer provided Hazmat training per DOT 49 CFR 172.704 within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Physical ability to lift/move up to 70 lbs., stand/walk for long periods, and work in industrial environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience handling chemical and hazardous materials preferred.
  • Familiarity with Hazmat labeling and the segregation of chemicals by hazard class within a warehouse environment are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review production schedule, bill of material, or job sheet and pull appropriate materials to support daily production jobs.
  • Stage and distribute material efficiently to support the production process and ensure continuous production is maintained throughout the assigned shift.
  • Communicate regularly with the Production Supervisor and/or Shift Lead and production operators both directly and by radio to coordinate material swaps at multiple production stations, removing full product containers and providing empty containers for refill if needed.
  • Utilize a drum lifter attachment to move chemical drums from plastic pallets to wooden pallets.
  • Operate stretch-wrapping equipment and scanning software to comply with material packaging requirements and move products into warehouse storage.
  • Regularly utilize a desktop computer to locate materials, research inventory issues, and provide daily passdowns to oncoming shift personnel.
  • Utilize a barcode scanner to facilitate the electronic movement of product.
