About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for shipping, receiving and transporting packaging, ingredients, and finished goods for the facility. This role involves observing all safety rules and regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment and material handling. The Material Handler must follow all established Good Manufacturing Practices, maintain an orderly and clean work area, and perform daily inspections of forklifts. Responsibilities also include verifying deliveries, entering documentation into the company's computer system, organizing materials, and assisting management with inventory balances. The position requires the ability to operate all forklift equipment and work in an extremely cold environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must read, write and speak English.
  • Must possess basic math and computer skills.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • One year or more material handling experience.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Be able to regularly stand, reach, bend, and move about the facility.
  • Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • Hearing ability to meet manufacturing facility safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Observe all safety rules and regulations including use of personal protective equipment and material handling.
  • Follow all established Good Manufacturing Practices, including maintaining an orderly and clean work area.
  • Maintain forklifts by daily inspecting batteries, water levels, lights, horn, tires, mirrors, oil levels, backup beep indicators, etc.
  • Verify all deliveries/discrepancies by inspecting materials through physically counting and comparing the amount printed on the delivery receipt.
  • Enter necessary documentation of delivery receipts or material handling into the company's computer system.
  • Organize/rotate old materials with new.
  • Daily remove/fix any dirty, torn, hanging, broken wood, packaging, ingredients etc.
  • Assist management with inventory balances through physical cycle counts.
  • Label any open/partial ingredient and packaging.
  • Check production schedules daily to stage packaging and ingredients if needed.
  • Perform all other warehouse and freezer duties.
