About The Position

The E-Commerce Jewelry Lister / Material Handler is responsible for sorting, testing, inspecting, photographing, Quality Assurance / Quality Control, and listing sellable items on the Shop Goodwill site along with other material handling and processing functions as needed.

Requirements

  • Basic mathematical skills and the ability to read English.
  • Intermediate knowledge of computers, keyboarding, and photography.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working with precious metals and gems.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, managers, employees, clients, customers, and the general public using tact, courtesy and cooperativeness.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables; exercise judgment, resourcefulness, ingenuity and initiative.
  • Effective interpersonal and communications skills to interact effectively with all levels of management and staff.
  • Ability to operate office equipment, including computer, telephone, cell phone, tablet, fax and copy machine.
  • Must exhibit a high level of integrity and business ethics.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient skills in common accounting and Microsoft software; willingness and ability to become an in-house expert on those systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications. This would include the usage of a precious metals analyzer and gem tester.
  • Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
  • Record inspection or test data, such as weights, temperatures, grades, or moisture content, and quantities inspected or graded.
  • Mark items with details such as grade or acceptance-rejection status.
  • Notify supervisors or other personnel of production problems.
  • Discard or reject products, materials, or equipment not meeting specifications.
  • Grade, classify, or sort products according to sizes, weights, colors, or other specifications.
  • Position products, components, or parts for testing.
  • Stack or arrange tested products for further processing, shipping, or packaging.
  • Weigh materials, products, containers, or samples to verify packaging weights or ingredient quantities.
  • Photograph items to be listed (minimum of 6 photographs per item).
  • Research minimum criteria on products.
  • List items on internal Shop Goodwill, EBay and other potential sales software and other software as necessary.
  • Use key words for attracting searches.
  • Provide accurate, informative, brief descriptions of items while listing to include name brands (only if verified as original), item style, color, measurements, size, and shape of item.
  • Show all notable flaws or absence of flaws to show condition of the item.
  • Move, sort, select and properly display for photographing merchandise in accordance with the company's procedures.
  • Processes merchandise in accordance to the company’s procedures.
  • Performs necessary record keeping pertaining to daily activities and other reports as needed in a neat and legible manner.
  • Responsible to perform housekeeping duties to maintain cleanliness of processing area, interior and exterior of the facility.
  • Accurately documents production and meets company standards for commercial salvage processing.
  • Complies with Safety and Loss Prevention policies and procedures.
  • Report and document safety hazards, potentially hazardous conditions, and unsafe practices and procedures.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Attends meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures and enforce safe working conditions at all times.
  • Responsible to work safely at all times and to report all workplace injuries, accidents, or near misses to supervisor and/or Safety Manager.
  • Report any incident of theft, fraud, waste or unauthorized possession of company property.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that would lead to successful operation of department, team and/or mission.
