About The Position

The Handler II, Material is responsible for manually or using hand trucks to move materials, supplies, and finished goods to designated areas within the facility or onto trucks and railroad cars. This role supports shipping, receiving, and production operations while maintaining safety and efficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2--4 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer service driven.
  • Strong team player.
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret information
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
  • Ability to sit, walk, or stand for the duration of the shift
  • Must possess visual acuity to perform essential job functions
  • Ability to conduct physical tasks with a full range of motion throughout the warehouse environment
  • Ability to lift/carry items up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Perform various material handling duties manually or with a hand truck.
  • Load raw materials or finished products onto skids or hand trucks.
  • Handle railroad car dock boards, bracing materials, and dunnage bags; open/close car doors and prepare for shipment.
  • Stack skids or pallets in designated areas.
  • Dispose of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping in proper containers or designated areas.
  • Use tools such as hammers and crowbars to remove strapping, open crates, and strap cars.
  • Assist with product repair when not performing primary duties.
  • Support the printing department by storing and placing full and empty drums.
  • Act as a utility person on the assembly line as needed.
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding and adherence to safety rules, regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Use limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish tasks.
  • Assist other department employees with more complex assignments.
  • Work under general supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
