About The Position

The position involves essential job functions such as signing off on bills of lading (BOL), cross-checking packing lists, picking, and putting away materials. The role requires working with more challenging material handling equipment and ensuring vendor accuracy while checking for damaged cargo during loading and unloading. The employee will fill client orders safely and efficiently, adhering to Crane's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Responsibilities include reading and following work orders, moving materials or container loads, and using authorized equipment after successful training. The job also entails loading and unloading materials, counting and recording units moved, attaching identifying tags, scanning freight, completing paperwork, and maintaining a safe work environment. The position requires on-site presence and may include other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Greater than one year of related experience.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and complete basic checklists, forms, or other related documents.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
  • Consistently at work and on time.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Other professional certification may be required in some areas.

Responsibilities

  • Sign off bill of lading (BOL) and cross-check packing list.
  • Pick and put away materials using material handling equipment.
  • Cross-check vendor accuracy and check for damaged cargo during loading and unloading.
  • Fill client orders safely and efficiently within Crane SOPs.
  • Read and follow work orders to ascertain materials or container loads to be moved.
  • Use authorized equipment after successful training.
  • Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves.
  • Count, weigh, and record number of units of materials moved or handled.
  • Attach identifying tags or labels to materials.
  • Scan freight via warehouse management system with RF equipment.
  • Complete required paperwork thoroughly and promptly.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Accurately and courteously load client merchandise.
  • Other duties as assigned.
